In March 2017, Bulliard Construction completed renovations to the lobby and cashier areas of SLEMCO. Work for the Acadiana-area electric utility included all new finishes on the floors, walls, and ceilings, as well as new, reconfigured granite countertops. Corne Lemaire Architects redesigned the 1,500 square feet of public spaces.

New security measures were also installed, including bulletproof glass to protect the cashiers and the receptionist from potential safety issues, and new security cameras. New LED lighting was also installed. During the 4-month project, the lobby was never closed during business hours, creating unique challenges for the construction crew. Temporary entries and exits for customers were created by converting windows into doors, and phased scheduling was utilized by Bulliard Construction so that the 10,000-plus customers who enter the SLEMCO lobby each month were not inconvenienced. Bulliard Construction is proud to serve the area by having significantly improved SLEMCO’s busy customer service and bill pay area ahead of schedule for its many utility customers.
